The Backstory Thread

*The voice log crackles to life as it's played, a slow sigh is heard at first.*
"Fuck it, I'm not good at telling stories. I'll tell you all one thing, this one doesn't have a happy ending. I know that for sure."
*Another long sigh is heard, the sound of a glass being lifted off of a metal surface thumps in a low tone, the man silent.*
"So.....uh...well. Lets see, 2013, that alien ship was found on the moon. Crashed and all that shit. So Us and all them fucking smart countries over in Europe. They managed to use the jump drive to start building ships of interstellar travel, they had shielding technology, medical technology, was crazy shit."
*A sipping noise is heard, the man sets the glass down, a refreshing "Ahhh" then a chuckle is heard from him.*
"Well, like usual, Russia didn't want to join up with US and those other countries., so long story short on that. Russia reunited the USSR along with buncha new countries like China and Japan, all those main countries over in mainland Asia. Started calling themselves Red Star, got into an interplanetary war with New United Space Alliance. They decided to keep the war off of earth seeing as the homelands are there, as long as no weapons, ships, or things of that nature are made on Earth."
"So now, the year is 2112, NUSA and Red Star are having a cease fire at the moment, wait a moment, why are you listening to this, this is spouse to be private. Dick."
